I know a lot of families have big home-cooked Sunday dinners, but how about on Fridays and Saturdays?

On most Saturdays we eat at restaurants. I don't know why we don't cook at home more, and I love to cook, too. My theory is, we have done the "eating out" thing for so many Saturdays that it's now part of our routine. It's not like we eat at expensive places. At the most, we usually spend around 20 dollars.

Then there's times when I feel extremely lazy ( I'm so lazy I have different levels of laziness ). On those days we usually get take-out or fast food. I dislike driving to go get fast food, though. I can't tell you how many times I try talking Rose into going for us. I have millions of excuses trying to get her to go, and to tell you the truth I think only one has actually worked. I'm saving it for the next time I feel even lazier than extremely lazy.

Yesterday, Rose's brother came over to do his laundry. He asked if we ate, and after we told him "no", he asked if we wanted to get something and bring it home. So I asked Rose what she wanted, and I went with him to get some supper. She asked me where we were going and as usual I had no idea. I never know what I'm hungry for until I'm on the road and see the places then I go by feel. And right then I was feeling hungry. I was asked, "Are you in the mood for burgers, chicken, tacos, subs, or pizza?" With my stomach growling i answered, "Yeah!!"

We went down a main street that is lined with fast food joints, fancy restaurants, and pizza places. Hmm , what do we want? To us, it really didn't matter. We were deciding by how crowded each place was. We didn't want to wait any amount of time. Not because we were starving but because we are both impatient as hell.

We stopped by the taco place, It was jam-packed. The line was super long. We should've known, too. Hell, it's always crowded. It's a institution here.

Next we stopped at McDonald's. An institution, too? Maybe, but thank God it was also crowded.

Kentucky Fried Chicken was packed.

Lots of the fancy restaurants had tons of people. Not that it means anything. If they were empty we still weren't go there. Along with both being impatient we also don't like spending 10 dollars for a burger and fries.

Damn, is every restaurant in this town full?

We pull into Burger King. There is no one around. It's like a ghost town. No one in the drive-thru and no one in line inside. Okay, truth time for us. We said before leaving we would stop at the first empty place. I don't think we both thought it was going to be Burger King. Not that I have anything against BK. I just wasn't feeling it if you know what I mean. So I said, "Look, they're mopping the floor inside. I don't wanna go in there and slip and fall." Sh*tty excuse ( No wonder Rose never falls for any ). He said, "Okay, let's go somewhere else." Obviously he wasn't feeling BK, either.

We finally decided on a little diner type of restaurant. Chicken salad and a chocolate shake for Rose, and a big fat burger and fries for me. It was good. I don't really care for fast food burgers all the time. But when you get a thick burger from those little diners sometimes they can be so damn yummy.

Despite it's yummy taste, a nice home-cooked meal would've been tastier and more satisfying. If only I wasn't so slothful on weekends. Does anyone out there cook on Fridays and Saturdays? And if so, can I come over? I'll bring the alcohol or whatever else you need.

Hey Texas Wahine, I could bring over some jalapenos now that you're a grill master. Providing your son lets you near the grill anymore.

Hey any excuse to go to Hawaii. Now does anyone out there cook on the weekends who happens to live in VEGAS????

Mason,

---I cook when I'm home off the road. When on the road I eat truckstop food or the 'heat n eat' stuff I nuke in the truck so when home I want real cooked food.---

Although there are some good eats at truck stops nothing beats "real cooked food".
