I checked out the Weather Channel and there wasn't any mention of it. But I'm pretty positive Hell is experiencing blizzard like conditions. And why do I think that? Well, looking at the baseball standings I see the Detroit Tigers not only have the best record in their division, and not only the best record in the American League. But do I dare say they have the best record in all of Major League Baseball.

Yes, the same Detroit Tigers who just a few years ago were on the verge of setting the all-time record for most losses in one season. They ended that season with a 5 game winning streak to keep from at least tying the record.

I know the season isn't even a third of the way through, but I think they will make the playoffs this year. They lead the league in ERA. They have no aces but their starting rotation is above average, and while they have no surefire closer they do have 2 relievers sharing the closer spot and they do lead the league in saves. Maybe the Tigers can do what the Chicago White Sox did last year. Start off hot, avoid any major slumps and injuries, get solid pitching all year and go on to win the World Series.

They won the Series in 1945. Then won 23 years later in 1968. Then 16 years later in 1984. Now 22 years later maybe it's their turn. They might be due. But again if we talk about teams who are due I'm not sure the Tigers should be mentioned over the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Washington Nationals. Or even the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians or Houston Astros.

I'm a Yankee fan, but I think it would be good for baseball if the Tigers got to the World Series. A few years ago they build a new ballpark, and if you never been to Comerica Park it's a beautiful stadium and a great place to see a game. When I lived in that part of the country I would go see the Tigers play about 10 times a season. One time Jessica Alba was sitting several rows away from me. But that's a whole 'nother article. Let's just say she looks a lot better in person. Needless to say I missed some of the game watching her everytime she got up from her seat. I joked to my GF later that I bet a lot of guys had POP-UPS at the game.

If it can't be New York I'm going for Detroit. Go Tigers!!!!

Young'uns dont remember the year the Tigers blew away the league.  I do.  I was out in KC on Business and the guy out there got us tickets to the first ALCS game between the Royals and Tigers.  The Tigers won 9-0.  I dont think they lost a single post season game that year.  But of course that was when there was just the LCS and then the World Series, so it was not hard to sweep 2 series.

And, no I dont remember who they beat in the series.  I know who it was not.  It was not the Mets.

Yes it WASN'T the Mets.

I think it was the San Diego Padres, but who knows they may blow away them this year. That's if the Mets could ever beat the Braves.
